Life and Death

Life and Death walked together in the place between Heaven and Earth, the thin, veiled chasm that everyone crossed, but only they lived; they were side by side, as they always were, each looking in opposite directions, as they always did. For a long time there was silence, and finally, Death turned to Life and said, “One day, you will die, and I don't care if you die because your death will only make me stronger.”

Life turned to look at Death, and smiled. “One day you will live, and I don't care if you live because your life will only make me stronger.”

“Life is weak. Everything dies. While I exist, I destroy all the good that you create.”

“Death is weak. Life always finds a way to continue. While I exist, I transcend over you and the heartbreak you bring to this world.”

Death frowned. “You think you are so smart. But for this world to be a world, our dual existence is necessary. There would be no life if there was no death.”

“Nor would there be death without life.”

There, as Life and Death stood side by side, and now hand in hand, they agreed: there can be no life without death, and there can be no death without life. The two were inseparable and inevitable.

That's just how the world is.
